City Crews Headed to Louisiana
July 11, 2019
City of Tallahassee electric crews will deploy to Lafayette, Louisiana, to provide mutual aid assistance for impacts from Tropical Storm Barry, which is strengthening as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico. The City’s team, which deploys today, will be comprised of 41 people, including 26 Electric employees and two Fleet mechanics, who will assist the Lafayette Utilities System.
“The spirit of Tallahassee knows no boundaries. I’m proud of our dedicated City crews who are leaving their families and heading into the storm on the Louisiana delta to aid our fellow Americans,” Mayor John Dailey said. “They skillfully perform their duties every day here for our community and will take that same dedication with them to provide aid when it is needed most.”
The City continues to remain prepared and on alert for local impacts as the threat from this storm system continues to lessen for our community. Should the storm shift and severe weather impact the Tallahassee area, City crews are ready to respond, and those that are deployed may be called home.
