See What It Takes to Make Tallahassee Shine
City Program Engages Citizens with In-Depth Look at City Services
August 01, 2019
Are you involved in your neighborhood or the go-to person that curious friends always ask about community issues? Neighborhood association leaders and community members interested in learning more about City of Tallahassee programs and services are encouraged to take part in the 2019 Neighborhood Leadership Academy (NLA).
NLA is presented as an eight-week course, with participants meeting every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. The first class will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Applications are currently being accepted. Citizens interested in participating can submit a request online at Talgov.com/NLA. Registration is limited and will close by August 26.
NLA offers an instructional and interactive forum designed to empower citizens with specialized knowledge about how their local government operates. With a focus on public safety and customer services, hands-on experiences will allow participants to better understand City programs and services and how to access them. Some highlights include touring City facilities, peering through night vision equipment used by TAC team officers and suiting up for a fire training exercise. NLA also serves as a venue for participants to provide feedback on how services could be enhanced.
During the dynamic eight-week course, class participants will engage with staff and learn about various aspects of City operations. To maximize the experience, participants are encouraged to attend every session.
