TPD's Holiday Helpers
December 15, 2020
Every year, members of the Tallahassee Police Department work closely with local organizations and citizens to spread holiday cheer. This year, amid a global pandemic, these efforts are more important than ever. Through donations and volunteerism, TPD is reinforcing its commitment to help those in need.
Some of this year's holiday outreach efforts include:
Silver Santa: TPD members will make wishes come true for seniors at a local independent living facility. Gift tags listing residents' requested items were placed on a Christmas tree at TPD earlier this month. Employees chose tags and are purchasing the requested items. These presents will be wrapped and delivered to the facility, just in time for the holiday.
Food Drives: TPD is collecting non-perishable food items to donate to both Second Harvest of the Big Bend and the Veterans Village.
Bears with Care: TPD is delivering bears to the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Bend and local housing communities.
Cards for Veterans: TPD members are writing out holiday greetings for veterans in the community. These cards will be presented to World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans who take the annual Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C.
These are a few of the many ways TPD is helping spread cheer during the holidays. TPD kicked off the season with Shop With A Cop. This annual event pairs TPD's holiday helpers with local children to shop for gifts for the kids and their families. Check out the merriment of that event, as well as others, by following @TallyPD on social media. You can also learn more about TPD at Talgov.com/Police.
