City to Commemorate MLK Day with Uniquely Formatted Parade
Exhibitor Applications Due by Dec. 24
December 16, 2020
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to the pursuit of social justice and equality. To honor his life and legacy, the City of Tallahassee will host its first Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, from 12 – 2 p.m.
Due to COVID-19 and with the health of the community in mind, the parade will have a unique format for its inaugural year. Instead of a traditional parade, the City will host a reverse-style, drive-thru parade where the participants (floats and exhibits) are stationary and the spectators move along the parade route in their vehicles. The route will run along Monroe Street from Tennessee Street to Pensacola Street.
Organizations interested in participating as an exhibitor during the parade can apply at Talgov.com/MLKParade. The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24. Space is limited.
As this inaugural MLK Day Parade draws nearer, additional details, including associated road closure information, will be available at Talgov.com/MLKParade.
