City Sandbag Location Opens
1,000 Bags Available to Help Residents Mitigate Localized Flooding
January 02, 2021
To help residents mitigate localized flooding caused by recent heavy rains, the City of Tallahassee has established a community sandbag location with 1,000 bags available.
The site is open at James Messer Park South, located at 2830 Jackson Bluff Road (on the south side of Jackson Bluff Road between Appleyard Drive and Dupree Street). The site will remain open until it is no longer needed.
Citizens need to bring their own shovels and be prepared to fill bags themselves. There is a 25 bag limit per household.
City crews will monitor the site and provide additional sand and bags as needed.
City crews have been checking known drainage trouble spots for blockages and clearing obstructions. Within the Tallahassee city limits, citizens may report blocked storm drains via the City’s free DigiTally app or by calling 850-891-4968.
