Arrests Made for Apache Street Homicide

On 4/03/2018 TPD responded to the 700 block of Apache Street reference a traffic crash. The driver of the crashed vehicle was determined to have suffered a gunshot wound and later succumbed to their injuries.
The investigation revealed that Antonio Smith and Leroy Hughes conspired to purchase marijuana from the victim. Upon meeting the victim at the designated location, (700 block of Apache Street) the victim was shot, and the marijuana was removed from the victim’s vehicle.
After consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit established probable cause to charge Antonio Smith and Leroy Hughes with the below charges.
Leroy Hughes was taken into custody by TPD’s Career Criminal Unit, and the U.S. Marshall’s Service on the evening of 12/05/2019. Antonio Smith also surrendered on the evening of 12/05/2019. Both subjects were taken to the Leon Detention Facility. TPD would like to thank the U.S. Marshall’s Service for their assistance with this case.
