Pets Rescued from Structure Fire
July 08, 2025
On July 8, at approximately 9:42 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) responded to a reported structure fire located on Sylvan Court. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from a single-story duplex.
Crews initiated an attack on the fire and conducted a thorough search of both sides of the duplex, which confirmed that no occupants were inside. The fire was contained to one side of the structure and was primarily located in a bedroom, with some extension into the attic. A quick and aggressive attack by TFD crews brought the fire under control before it could spread further.
During operations, firefighters successfully rescued a dog and a cat from the residence. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department and City of Tallahassee Utilities.
TFD reminds residents that smoke alarms are a critical first line of defense in protecting your home and family from fire.
