TFD Responds to Kitchen Fire
May 06, 2021
On May 6 at approximately 3:20 p.m., the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received a 911 call stating a residence within the 300 block of Bermuda Road was on fire. Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) units responded and arrived on scene within six minutes.
TFD crews were met with smoke and fire coming from the kitchen. One occupant in the home suffered burns from grease in the cooking fire. The occupant was flown to UF Health Shands Hospital for medical treatment.
Partnering agencies assisting TFD on scene included the Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities and Leon County EMS.
To help prevent fires while cooking, keep flammable items away from the stove top, wear short or close-fitting sleeves and have a lid nearby to quickly cover and smother a fire.
