Residential Fire Extinguished on Teal Lane
October 02, 2026
On Friday, October 2, at approximately 1:22 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a residential structure fire on Teal Lane. Crews arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from a two-story residential structure.
Firefighters made entry into the structure and found heavy smoke and fire on the first floor. Crews quickly began extinguishing the fire while searching the structure for any possible occupants. No people were found inside the home at the time of the fire, but during the search, one cat was rescued from the structure. Unfortunately, two cats were found deceased.
The fire was quickly brought under control. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
The Tallahassee Fire Department reminds residents that working smoke alarms are one of the most important tools for protecting your family from a home fire. Smoke alarms provide an early warning, giving occupants valuable time to escape safely. Residents should have smoke alarms on every level of their home and near all sleeping areas and test them regularly to ensure they are working properly. Learn more at Talgov.com/Fire.
