July 01, 2021
The Tallahassee City Commission will hold a budget workshop at 1 p.m. and its regular meeting at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, in the City Commission Chambers, second floor, City Hall, 300 S. Adams Street.
Agendas for both the workshop and the meeting are available at Talgov.com/Agenda.
There are three options for sharing public comment.
- Virtually via an online platform during the workshop and meeting
- Written via online submission
- In-person at the workshop and meeting
More details about each option are available at Talgov.com/CitizenInput. Anyone needing assistance with submitting comments should contact the City Treasurer-Clerk's Office via email at ctcrecmg@talgov.com or by calling 850-891-8130.
The workshop presents the City Manager's Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) proposed total budget of approximately $1.03 billion. Within that, the proposed General Fund budget is $171.2 million. This recommendation holds the City's proposed property tax rate constant at 4.1 mills. The City's millage rate is the lowest of the 25 largest cities in Florida and has been unchanged for six years.
At its May 19, 2021, workshop, the City Commission approved a plan that will provide $18 million in funds for investments and programs to address key community needs in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Information about the City's financials is available through OpenGov and the City's online budget, both accessible through Talgov.com. The schedule of remaining budget meetings is as follows:
- September 8: FY22 First Public Hearing and Approval
- September 22: FY22 Final Budget Public Hearing and Approval
The schedule above is subject to change and will be updated as necessary. Check the City's online events calendar at Talgov.com to stay informed.
The July 7 workshop and meeting will both stream live on the City’s government-access television channel, WCOT (Comcast and CenturyLink channel 13), as well as online at Talgov.com, Facebook.com/CityofTLH, Twitter.com/CityofTLH and YouTube.com/CityofTLH.
