Single Stream Recycling - No Sorting Necessary!

Waste Management provides garbage, bulky items, yard waste and recycling services for residential and commercial customers within the city limits of Tallahassee. Current customer counts are 47,000 residential; 16,000 commercial establishments and 2,100 commercial recycling customers. The City is the exclusive provider of commercial and residential waste collection services (excluding recycling and construction and demolition debris) inside the city limits.

Summer weather has arrived. To help solid waste crews beat the heat, residential garbage and recycling collection services are being shifted slightly to begin at 5 a.m. starting the second week of July. Customers are now encouraged to set their collection bins behind the curb the night before their service day. Both containers should be returned to the home no later than the day after collection.

Waste Management Pickup

Garbage and recycling containers can be placed at the curb (no earlier than) the day before your scheduled pickup and need to be returned to the storage area near your home no later than the day following your service. Bulky items and yard waste should be placed at the curb no sooner than the weekend before your red/blue week pickup date. Any household hazardous waste or bulky items that can't be left at the curb can be brought to bi-annual Cash for Trash events. You may also drop off recyclables at any public single-stream recycling container found throughout Tallahassee.

What does red/blue week mean?

The City of Tallahassee Waste Management Services picks up bulky items and yard waste on the same day every other week. Depending on where you live, your route will be on either a red week or blue week. You can download the red/blue week calendar here and print it out. Each year we also send out a waste management guide that includes a red/blue week calendar on the back for reference. Find out which route you are on and the specific pickup day of the week.

Holiday Pickup Schedules

All customers may receive service one day later than their regularly scheduled service if your day of pickup falls on or after a holiday observed by the City of Tallahassee.

These containers are for commercial customers with the greatest garbage/recycling disposal capacity needs. These containers are taken off your property each time to be emptied and returned immediately after disposal. Set up a scheduled pick up or call each time.
